403 Forbidden: server unable to read htaccess, denying access for safety

I recently attempted to update my Wordpress site, Business Directory in Tanzania. Before updating, I took a backup of the entire website folder. After installing an updated theme, I decided to remove the update and replaced the website folder with the backup.

However, I am now receiving the following error:

You don't have permission to access this resource. Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I need help to resolve this issue.

It seems like the issue is related to the .htaccess file. Try checking the file permissions of the .htaccess file and ensure it is readable by the server. You can try setting the permissions to 644. If that doesn’t work, you can try deleting the .htaccess file and letting WordPress generate a new one.
